TECHDRIVE three-phase static converter

TECHDRIVE

Analog static converter family

Techdrive (Analog Technology Thyristor Variable Speed DC Drive) series bidirectional, 4-quadrant, regenerative static converters are designed for variable voltage armature control of DC motors in both directions.
They can supply voltages and currents of both polarities and can receive power from the load and feed it into the grid.
The converters in this series cover a wide range of applications in various industries, and the power range extends from a few Kw to about 750 Kw.
They are characterized by their circuit simplicity, application versatility, small size, and high static and dynamic performance.
The use of power devices (SCRs) with isolated base modules (PACK MODULES) and discs enabled effective optimization of the various sizes; the choice, on the other hand, of control circuits with high integration of functions resulted in a decidedly state-of-the-art product that is easy to use, consistent in performance, and highly reliable.
The regulation and control circuits are galvanically isolated from the power circuits, while the interface to and from the system, is realized through reed relays which, being supplied with autonomous voltage, give the converter a high immunity to disturbances.
External commands can come from voltage-free contacts or directly from PLC.

  • Single-phase static AC/DC converters with analog technology
  • 2/4 quadrants for DC motors.
  • Powers between 5 kw and 500 kw
single-phase static converter J-DRIVE

J-DRIVE

Single-phase static converter family

J-Drive Series Converters are designed to cover a wide range of drives for single-phase mains-powered DC motors in a wide range of industrial applications.
They are characterized by their circuit simplicity, application versatility, small size, and decidedly low cost.
In addition to variable speed control of DC motors in both armature voltage (galvanic isolation) and tachometer transducer, J-Drive converters find application in machine excitation control in WARD-LEONARD systems and in motor excitation control in constant power operation.
The converters are contained within finely painted sheet metal modules.
The control board is mounted on the inner side of the front cover; the POWER ON, RUN and TPMI-TPMII direction LEDs are visible on the outer side.
Control electronics allow simultaneous and continuous adjustments of motor parameters, enabling excellent static and dynamic performance.

  • Single-phase static AC/DC to SCR converters for DC motors.
  • Single-phase AC/DC controlled rectifiers for static exciters
  • Single-phase AC/DC controlled partializers for heaters, lamps and other applications

LEGOSYSTEM

Special modules for automation

We design and build special modules for automation, Legosystem series. These are modular modules, mainly used in revamping of obsolete machines and systems. These modules are designed to make adjustments, controls and interconnections between variable speed drives.

AC DRIVE bias converters

AC DRIVE

SCR single-triphase biased AC/AC converters for ohmic-inductive loads

AC Drive (Alternating Current Drive) Series Converters enable the speed regulation of three-phase asynchronous motors, in both directions of rotation.
Converters in this series cover a wide range of applications in various industries, and the power range extends from a few Kw to about 170 KVA.
They are characterized by their circuit simplicity, application versatility, small size, and high static and dynamic performance.

Soft-start converters

SOFTDRIVE

Static converters for asynchronous motors

The Softdrive Converter is a fully static electronic device that has the prerogative, through modulation of the output voltage, of being able to gradually start three-phase asynchronous motors in accordance with the operating requirements of the machines they drive.
This device is widely used for the gradual starting of motors for pumps, fans, mixers, paper mill pulpers, textile fraying machines, ceramic mills, bottling filling machines, industrial washing machines, amusement park rides, stringing machines, and stranding machines. It can be inserted into existing systems very easily. It is particularly useful and effective, due to the gradualness of power withdrawal, for being introduced into genset-powered systems.
The advantages resulting from the application of Softdrive are many:

  • Energy savings by reducing line power peaks, especially when large flywheel masses are started frequently
  • elimination of hydraulic joints
  • Elimination of resistor, reactance, autotransformer, non-gradual finely and energetically highly dissipative starters
  • Elimination of water hammer in pipelines and pressure fluctuations in water treatment plants
  • Longer life of mechanical parts (gearboxes, couplings, drive shafts etc.) due to the lower dynamic stresses of starting
  • possibility of sequential starting of several engines even of different power (multi – starter)
  • No substantial plant modification in existing single-engine systems
  • Inherent possibility of even gradual stopping
Statedrive biased converters

STATORDRIVE

Phase-controlled converters

AC/AC static power supplies. Statordrive belong to the category of phase-controlled converters that employ controlled diodes (SCR or Thyristor) for converting the alternating voltage of a three-phase rms line to vary from zero to maximum value.
The 10-semiconductor element configuration enables fine and precise control of the motor speed in the four quadrants of the speed-torque plane.
Reversibility is achieved through the static reversal of two phases of motor power under the constant control of the controller, which modulates the transfer of energy from the grid to the motor to impose a gradual and precise speed variation law.
The control of each of the power supply phases by pairs of SCRs connected in anti-parallel, allows strictly symmetrical voltage biases, thus of surely zero mean value.
Modular construction makes these converters extremely versatile and easily adaptable to existing systems.
The electronics are equipped with measurement test-points and display LEDs that offer the possibility of easy and accurate instrumental investigation of the effectiveness of the controllers.
A very important feature of this series concerns the rule adopted for all adjustment trimmers: their clockwise rotation always acts in the direction of bringing about an “increase” in the adjusted magnitude be it current, voltage, speed, gain, ramp time, reference level etc.
The control system includes a speed-reference programmer, a ramp generator, a speed controller, a pilot amplifier for each drive channel, and a tachogenerator keyed to the motor shaft that provides a signal proportional to the speed realizing a perfectly stable closed loop.
